Ashly Y.D.
I’ve always believed creativity is like starlight—something that can guide, inspire, and connect us. My name is Ashly, and I’m the author and creator of The Starlit Press. I’m a professional technical communicator and writer who graduated with honors from Texas Tech University. During my time there, I poured myself into both academics and creativity, which led to my induction into three honor societies—Phi Kappa Phi, Sigma Tau Delta, and Phi Theta Kappa. Those experiences didn’t just recognize my work; they reminded me how much I love learning, writing, and helping others find their voice.
Music
I’ve always been a very deep and creative person. Music has always been central to my life—both as a writer and a fan. For as long as I can remember, I’ve turned to music as a form of expression, healing, and motivation.
As a child, I could always be found by myself with either my headphones on, immersing myself in a song, or playing the piano—both traits that carried seamlessly into adulthood. I thoroughly enjoy analyzing music—not just the lyrics, but the instruments and small effects that give you chills when they hit just right. As a writer and lover of creative arts, I appreciate the emotion and meaning each song carries.
Why the Starlit Press?
Before starting The Starlit Press I was an English instructor—I mostly helped college students write essays and complete their coursework. I love helping others, so it was an enjoyable experience, but I felt like something was missing: my passion for creativity and the light that music brings to my soul had been dimmed. The Starlit Press allows me to fully combine my passions for writing, listening to music, and uplifting others.
The word “starlit” refers to the many artists and fans who make up this blog. Like stars in the night sky, The Starlit Press aims to help them shine and claim their place in a galaxy where their light will never fade.
Ethos
I created Mission CSH in honor of Korean rapper and actor Choi Seung Hyun (T.O.P). His brave resilience, genuine kindness, and quiet strength despite disheartening and unearned criticism serve as a firm reminder that all humans deserve compassion and the right to dream. Following Choi Seung Hyun’s example, Mission CSH strives to foster a community that encourages compassion and kindness, motivates dreams, and supports the emotional well-being of every fan and artist. I want Mission CSH to uplift and inspire through the energy of music, writing compassionate artist spotlights, and providing guidance to free mental health resources.
